Katherine A. Mohr
Katherine Mohr holds the unique distinction of being the first second-generation female bow maker in the United States, hence her business name Fille de Mohr. She has extensively studied the craft of bow making and restoration under the guidance of her father, Rodney D. Mohr.
Since 2013, Katherine has served clients in the greater Cleveland, Ohio area, as well as across the country. To date, she has crafted over 70 bows that are currently played in orchestras around the world. Her clientele includes soloists, members of the Cleveland Orchestra, and students from the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Oberlin Conservatory, and countless freelance musicians.
Katherine's passion for teaching began in 2014, while assisting Rodney with his rehairing, restoration, and bow making workshops with Learning Trade Secrets, LLC, "A Fine Stringed Instrument Making & Restoration Program", a role she continues to enjoy. She is currently a member and past board member of the Violin Society of America, where she contributed to the creation of their social media and New Professionals board.
Looking ahead, Katherine plans to open her own shop in Cleveland Heights in 2026.
