Are you fresh out of violin making school? Are you new to instrument making? Have you made instruments but are unsure about how to successfully ground and use oil varnish? Do you need a varnishing system that works and provides consistent results? Then this workshop is for you!
With years of success in refining and teaching violin varnishing, Joe Robson will walk you through this intense five day workshop where you will explore varnishing using his varnish and application methods that will deliver the most consistent results. He will guide you in instrument preparation for ground coat, color and varnish. There will not be time for white work at the workshop. Instruments may have a ground of your choice. White instruments will receive shellac ground on day one of the workshop.
Be prepared by bringing one violin or two violins or viola ready for varnishing. No cellos please as space is limited. Tuition includes materials and lunch.
